HistoryROTARY CLUB OF APPIN PARK WANGARATTAThe Rotary Club of Appin Park was admitted to Rotary International membership and District 280 on the 29th May 1972 and chartered on the 22nd June 1972.The birth of a new club in Wangaratta came about through the generosity of the Rotary Club of Wangaratta in ceding territory for the new club to conduct its business within its own territorial limits. The Rotary Club of Appin Park since its foundation has always enjoyed wonderful fellowship and friendship and has been very progressive in all the aspects of Rotary service. The many projects over the years within the local, national and international areas of interest, have allowed the club to participate in such programs as youth exchange, The Rotary Foundation, youth development, vocational, international and community activities. During the Rotary year 2007/2008 the club adopted the leadership plan, which aimed at creating more leadership positions and streamlining board activities, which has proved to be successful in club development and during 2008/2009, the club made application to Rotary International to change the club name from the Rotary Club of Appin Park to the Rotary Club of Appin Park Wangaratta. Rotary International has since approved this action. The club through its membership has served on a number of district committees and as well as the Rotary International level and it has hosted a district conference together with a number of district assemblies. The tradition of “Service Above Self” is alive and healthy at the Rotary Club of Appin Park Wangaratta, which meets at the Wangaratta Oasis Bar & Grill each Thursday night at 6 for 6:30 pm. Come share Rotary with us when next in the area. Bookings are necessary so contact Robert Tate (03) 5722 2525. |
